Hi all.

Was diagnosed in april 07.  Triple neg. no node involvement.. Lumpectomy, ACT chemo .. and radiation for 6 weeks. Finished treatments in october '07
Been reading your posts and havnt gotten thru them all so forgive me if this is a "repeat" question.  I have pain deep under my ribs. It's been there for months now. Recently had an upper quadrant ultrasound and all was normal.  Could it be residual from radiation and surgery? my lumpectomy was nowhere near my ribs but i know of fascial issues.  i dont know how to address this pain cuz i dont know the cause and was wondering if any of you have had this particular issue.
peace.

Hi WitchyWoman,

Welcome to the site. I have not had pain such as yours, but I would ask for an appointment with your radiologist and let her/him know about what you are feeling. Next, I would check with the onc.

Regards,
Carol

Thank you for the response.  Have been to the oncologist.  She suspected i had gallstones but the ultrasound showed nothing.  I'll address it w/ my acupuncturist today, but had heard that pain such as this is common after a lumpectomy. When i looked for info on it i found nothing. :/  ya know..it's frustrating to have these " after effect " issues and have professionals stare at ya like youre nuts.  i should be used to that cuz it's nothing new :D, but in this medium for me it is.
peace,

Hi Witchymomn,

I remember having a lot of odd pains after surgery.  One of my medical people said that the nerve endings begin to heal and you start to feel odd sensations in places you don't expect to feel them.  Also, we hold our bodies differently after surgery.  It is normal to protect the surgery area, even without knowing you are doing it.  Also, as you heal fluid begins to collect around the wound area and can cause discomfort and pressure.

I hope others have ideas for you and you can find one that fits.

Warmly,
Sadie

A warm welcome witchywoman.Smile

It is very frustrating when side effects pop up and sometimes they will and docs look at ya like it's all in your head.  Very disheartening.

I agree with Carol, see what your rad Onc says and if you aren't happy go to your family doc.  If you have been hurting that long it needs to be tended to.  Sometimes we have to be pushy but it's our body.

Don't worry about repeating a question, ask anything that is on your mind, we are always here and let us know what you find out and good luck!
