Dear Autumn,
My oncologist believes in keeping you as healthy as possible overall so he prescribes supplements and promotes changes in diet and life stlye not only focused on cancer prevention but overall health. So, supplement wise he has me on 5,000 is of vit D3 (I began with 2,000 but after testing showed that my levels were low he increased it and they are now almost normal), B complex, CoQ10, Niacin, Magnesium, Selenium, Vitamin C, baby Aspirin, Probiotics, DHA, Melatonin and folic acid. I also follow Edge's CAM regimen which I showed to my oncologist and he told me to go ahead and do it. As for the diet he advocates the mediterranean diet, eating organic, low fat, low sugar, whole grains. Also plenty of exercise.
I take more pills than my parents nowadays but at least I feel I'm doing something.
Best,
Natalia

This is what I take 6 days a week.. This is my own plan.. some of these are all part of the mulit vitamin or the Energy B Complex, so it is not that many pills, but I do take 31 pills a day.. 29 vitamins/supplements and 2 medicine... I take cinnamon and tumeric at every meal.. Wheat grass capsules first thing in the morning.. and a couple of them are caliums.. and of course 2 are vitamin D3.. I am exercising more, probably not enough, eating mostly organic-- I try to keep the iron and copper down as I have read that they help TNBC grow.

How many of you had or are on Zometa? Please i need your opinion as my mum doesn't know what to choose for her Osteopenia.. Her treatment was finished on 1.5 years ago had a DEXA 3 months after treatment which was normal and now repeated DEXA and shows increased osteopenia....... Two conflicting opinions at the moment... Her suregon recomments to start with Fosamax or Actonel and her ocnologist recomments to have Zometa twice a year. Her surgeon suggests that zometa is to strong to start with and is of no use as an anticancer...but her oncologist says that zometa is use also as an anticancer..

Wow Tasoulla, I can't help with this one. I'm sure someone will be along soon that can identify with this situation.
I'm wishing your mother and you good luck with whatever choice is made.
God Bless,
Lillie

Tasoulia, a recent study did not show Zometa prevents or delays recurrence, though earlier studies suggested a benefit to women with ER+ cancers. Other studies in europe suggest a benefit in using Clodronate, another bisphosphonate. Drugs like Zometa carry the risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw ONJ.
Though ONJ is more likely to occur in women who take Zometa often and for a long time (monthly or bimonthly for years), it has also been observed after a single dose, or in women who rarely get it.
ONJ is probably less likely to occur (not sure about this, but by hearsay) in milder bisphosphonates like Clodronate and Fosomax.
So...she'll have to decide. There's no clear answer (what else is new in cancer?)
Good luck,
d **Ostopenia is mild, therefore maybe take something low risk? (not Zometa)

hank you Lilie for your wishes....
Dennise thank you for your reply....most of oncologists for some reason
highly recommends Zometa and i think is very strong for osteopenia.....
From the other point of view, oral drugs sush as fosamax carry the risk for esopgagecal cancer...
I will search for the Clodronate....did you ever had DEXA test?
Thank you...
All the best to all of you...!
Thank you
