I was looking at some other sites for the latest news, I get 2 emails a week, from 2 diff sources, and I saw this question in one of the links. I have never heard of it, and was wondering if anyone else here had heard of such an oddity that this poor woman must be facing, NO ONE has answered her post.....makes my heart ache for her. Here is what she said........

Subject: Axilllary Node Breast Cancer
Date: 12/12/2008
I have been diagnosed with Axillary Breast Cancer. No cancer in the breast can be found, only 3 lymph nodes postive for adenocarcinoma by axilllary node disection last week.
They want to do chemo only, no radiation or mastectomy.
They say it is systemic and not in the breast anymore, or maybe never was. Has anyone faced this type of cancer before? I am told because it is so rare, no good studies exist.
I am scheduled for more opinions, but want to know if anyone here has had this experinence. Would appreciate any help.
Thank you and Blessing to you all, Bonnie

I would think that her cancer would be called lymphoma....of some sort. I am at a loss here, the poor woman must feel like I do...

This sounds like mine.  I had one positive TN lymph node but no cancer anywhere in the breast.  The three doctors could not really agree on treatment - the onc and radiation onc didn't think I needed surgery, the surgeon didn't think I needed radiation but they all agreed I needed chemotherapy.  I had four rounds of A/C and four of Taxotere and all scans were clear.  But I could not take a chance - I had a mastectomy as well and then radiation for the supra-clavical lymph nodes.  I am now waiting for the path report from a biopsy on the other breast when my six month follow-up mamo showed calcifications (this is how the first one started).

Hi Virginia, it's good to see you.

I wanted to wish you good luck on that new path report, fingers crossed and I hope you find out soon.  That waiting is a nightmare.
