Hey Ladies,

Another questions for you.  Again I'm writing regarding my sister who was dx with tnbc (but prayerfully it is gone) :)  Anyway she had her first chemo treatment this past tuesday and now has a constant burning sensation in her throat.. has anyone else had this and what did you do?  Thanks!!  We have a call into her doctor but the answering service is there and said someone would call back....

My sister had this--her doctor felt it was acid reflux and advised her to use Nexium ("the purple pill") or a similar product (Provecit?).

Sister,

I had burning in my throat after my 2nd chemo and the rest of them. In my situation it was blisters in my throat and mouth from the chemo. The onc prescribed a special  mouthwash made of benedryl, maalox, and lidocaine to swish and gargle with several times a day. It helped numb the pain a little. I`ve heard others here refer to it as "magic mouthwash". Wink

I'm so sorry that your sister is having a bad time...

Magic mouthwash - does help...My sores turned into thrush 3 times...Sores in my nose, mouth and throat...so if it gets bad...she may need a fungicide as well..

Also...the radiation oncologists use a different mouthwash...that is considerably stronger...Kinda like going to the dentist and getting novacaine....So if the magic mouthwash doesn't help enough...she might want to ask her oncologist for the stuff that the radiation folks use...

Anyway...
Thanks for being such a wonderful caring sister...
