This is exciting, it is a small trial but they are looking at Erlotinib
to be taken after chemo for 12 months!

"Women whose breast cancer cells have the EGFR surface marker have worse long term outcome as compared to women whose tumor do not have the EGFR marker. Erlotinib (Tarceva) targets EGFR and is currently used for treatment of other cancers like lung and pancreas. This study will assess a combination of chemotherapy with Erlotinib in women with triple negative breast cancer. "

This is GREAT news! I will be very interested in the results of this trial! Anyone who is newly diagnosed, I would strongly urge  you to print out this information and share with your onc. Perhaps you can be part of the study. Clinical trials usually result in the best quality of care!

It is great news isn't it Joan!

I print out alot of things to take to my Onc.  Thank heavens he doesn't brush me off but if he isn't familiar w/what I take in he asks if I can leave it so he can look it over.  Sure hope he does and doesn't let it get buried on his desk somewhere!!
