Hi,
"BSO" is used on some posts/signatures..
Just added "BSO" (bilateral salpingo- oophorectomy:removal of both tubes and both ovaries)
to above list of abbreviations.
Also added, TAH, lap.
If there are other abbreviations you have seen on the forums and do not find on the list above,
please post the abbreviation. It will eventually be added to the above list.
This will help the above list to be more complete........and more helpful especially to the newer
members.
The master list of forum abbreviations is found in the 1st post on page 1.
Thanks.

Thanks........the abbreviations you posted above have been added to the master list on page 1.
Great additions.
Also added:

From the last conference in 2011:
(Remember info from 2011 and some things may have changed)
( As usual, one needs to be careful whether the information is for all types of breast cancer combined
together.....or if there is any information given specifically for TNBC)

"Bump".
When one posts on a forum, it brings the forum topic to the top of list.
Sometimes, someone will write “bump” only to bring an important forum topic to top of list.
If there are abbreviations you have seen on the forums and do not find on the list above,
please post the abbreviation on this thread...........some one will respond. Then, it will
eventually be added to the above list. This will help the above list to be more complete........
and more helpful especially to the newer members.
The master list of forum abbreviations is found in the 1st post on page 1.
Thanks.

Kaye,
According to at least 2 medical abbreviations lists: Bx = biopsy
According to at least 2 other medical abbreviations lists: BX = biopsy Bacitracin X Bithorax
Thanks for asking. Looks like both BX and Bx are used for biopsy. Will wait to see if others post with a more definitive answer before adding BX/Bx to 1st post Master List.

Thanks, Judy. On my path report for first surgery, it refers to my BX. Then on my second surgery, which was the lumpectomy, that path report refers to lumpectomy as a BX, so I thought it meant biopsy...I wondered why they didn't use some form of abbreviation for lumpectomy.

Arabella,
Not sure why the "lumpectomy" was referred to as "BX". That is confusing. Wondering if it could have been a typo. Maybe ask surgeon's office to check about lumpectomy being referred to as BX with the pathology department. If there was a typo, consider asking to have the report corrected.
With caring and positive thoughts, Grateful for today..........Judy

If you look up the words in the dictionary, the explanation is almost interchangeable. 10 years ago, the terms while not as technical were used for the same in a dictionary.
