Hi,

Found these excellent chemo info and emotional aspects of chemo videos on the
Fox Chase Cancer Center website.

******If information in the videos differs from what your physician/nurse has told you,
follow the information of YOUR provider. When you get the chance, you can
discuss the differences if you wish with your provider.*********

Videos are in the middle of the page on the link
The video on the left in the link:      Part 1. Preparing for chemotherapy
The video on the right in the link:   Part 2. Managing emotional aspects of chemotherapy

http://www.fccc.edu/patients/preparingProcedures/chemotherapy/index.html

On the Preparing for chemotherapy video.
      Dental flossing is mentioned.
Check with your providers as there seems to be a difference of opinion on whether to floss
or not. Also flossing instructions MAY depend on what your lab tests are.

The video mentions resources at the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
You may like to be sure you have the numbers for the similar resources at your center:
Regular phone number, emergency phone number, social work dept, patient resource/education
           center, etc.

You will get thru chemo.
There is a wide range of responses to chemotherapy.
Let your providers know any side effects and adjust your plan with goal of minimal side effects.

With hopeful thoughts for minimal side effects during your chemo,
Grateful for today...........Judy

FYI:
There are various threads on the forums on chemotherapy.
There is a thread in the Resource Section on Chemotherapy TIps
     http://forum.tnbcfoundation.org/the-chemo-tips_topic3101.html
Supplements and herbals are mentioned. ALWAYS check with your physician about them
        especially during chemo.
Check with your physician on use of ice (mouth-fingernails-toenails) during chemo as there
are differences of opinion on this.
Chemo tips mentions colonics - a definite check with your physician.

Judy,
You information link couldn't have come at a better time.  I received my port today and I am scheduled to begin Chemo on September 27th.

The videos were outstanding and I took lots of notes.  I had the Chemo education already, but this filled in a lot of the information that was not covered.

Thank you so much!
Diana

Diana,

Certainly sounds like you will be as prepared as one can be for chemo.
Knowledge is power.

Many find once they have had the first chemo, in one sense, things seem a little better........
some say one of the hardest things to deal with....is the unknown.   Once one knows one's response
to chemo....then with one's providers, one can tweak and adjust the post chemo plans for any side effects.
There's a wide range of responses to chemo.

Some have found the videos from Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center also helpful.
The videos are on the psychosocial support for those with breast cancer.
http://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/adult/breast/multimedia/psychosocial-support-breast
These videos were put on the forum thread:
   http://forum.tnbcfoundation.org/support-for-newly-diagnosedvideos_topic9641.html

With caring and positive thoughts,
Grateful for today............Judy
