I am new to this discussion group but have been on "Inspire" in the gastrointestinal related forums for quite some time. The last 3 yrs were horrible as I struggled to deal with constant stomach pain & nausea and was eventually diagnosed with Superior Messenteric Artery Syndrome (SMAS) and then surgery. I now have chronic small bowel obstructions along with eating problems so I also suffer from chronic malnutrition/malabsorption and remain on TPN thru a PICC line. I've lost all my fat & muscle and look like a scarecrow.
Then I was hit with a diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer just when my body was so beat up by all the GI issues on Friday, May 13th of this year (kind of ironic huh?) There are 2 tumors in my right breast & one in my right axilla. I had 4 rounds of A/C first, once a week for 3 wks, then a week off. After finding possible lung mets mets, I was switched to weekly taxol, total of 12 rounds as neoadjuvant chemo. The taxol was stopped with another 2 rounds left after my 5th blood infection.
I am now getting a new petscan, breast mri, dopplar ultrasound, and brain mri for restaging. Then it's off to see the surgeon finally. Hopefully 6 mos of neoadjunvant chemo has done its job and will make the surgery much easier. After sugery it will be off to radiation and then chemo all over again.
I am going to ask the surgeon about having a double mastectomy even though the cancer is only in one breast at the moment. Don't want to give my TN a place to come back to. Prayer is what's getting me through this and I thank God every day that I am here. -- Laura

Laura, Sorry you have to be here, but glad you found us. You don't deserve this hell, but then again, none of us do. It sounds like you have done lots of neo work and have plans to continue giving it everything! You go, girl.
You've certainly been through more than your share of health problems. I'm glad you decided to join us and we hope we can help you through your journey, even if it's only to listen. Please keep us posted on your tests. Do you have a surgery date? Wishing you the best,
Donna
