Today I was listening to one of my favorite songs on my Ipod, Swim by Jack's Mannequin.  This is for everyone that's facing a new diagnosis, going through treatment, fighting a recurrence or enjoying no evidence of disease.  We all have to keep swimming for brighter days, we're not giving in!  We've got to keep our head above and swim.

Hi Donna, Wow, nice song...Thank You...You made my day! I am keeping my head above water right now and that is an accomplishment! It is such an enormous struggle to do but I agree...I am not giving in!!!   There is a lovely spirituality in this song. Love, Annie

Donna,
I never look at utube and I rarely click on other people's links.  But, for some reason, I clicked on yours. What an awesome song, and I never use the word lightly.  I need to figure out how to download music onto my ipod and put this one in first. Thanks for sharing. Isn't it funny how you never know how many people a little sharing will touch?

Barbi,

The singer wrote this song when he was going through treatment for leukemia.  Do you have Itunes?  I download songs using Itunes and then sync my Ipod and Iphone using my computer.  My Itunes gift cards come in real handy.

To all - I'm glad this song may have helped you.  I know certain songs helped me through treatment and still lift me up when I hear them now.  I'll tell you a little secret that I've allowed myself.  It's OK to cry during the day.  I usually allow myself that time in the shower.  I have my music playing and if I need it, I have my pity party in the shower.  The tears are cleansing for what I've faced and usually makes me feel better and ready to face the day.

Donna,

Thanks so much for sharing - both the song and one of the ways you handle your anxiety and sadness.

I too allow myself a short pity party in the shower - just once in a while, when the fear that I may not live long enough to help my 9 and 12 year old daughters get through middle school and high school are creeping into my consciousness.    Sometimes i just have to let myself think it for a few minutes, admit that it will SUCK if it happens, cry about it a little bit and, then I feel better and can move on.

Like the song says, we just have to keep swimming!!!  And I feel extremely grateful (usually!) that God and my friends and family give me the strength to keep swimming.

Love and strength to all,
Beth
