I start my chemo treatments in a few days. Drugs are TC, once every three weeks for twelve weeks. Take a steroid pill day before, day of and day after, and day after Nulastin shot. Has anybody else had this combination? Wondering if I should take an avatin before infusion. Nurse said anti-nausea drug with infusion combo but am wondering if that's enough. Should I eat before I go? It's at 8 am. Should I bring crackers, water etc? Any other tips.

Hi, khs,
I had the same chemo regimen, with the Neulasta shot the day after.  I never took Avatin.  I tried to drink lots of water the day before, the day of, and days after.  I ate before I went, and ate snacks during.  I took phenergan and Zofran for nausea.  I took them as soon as I got home to prevent the nausea from coming, as much as possible.  I took Miralax for constipation during the first few days.  I also took lots of Advil for headaches.  I only really felt bad on days 3-7 and after that, I felt pretty normal.  I never developed any mouth sores.  While it wasn't fun, it was very manageable.  I wish you the best.  Please post any other questions or concerns and let us know how you are doing.

All this advice Charlene gave was very good. The water is most important. It will help flush all those chemicals out of your body.

I had T/C too. I believe they gave me Ativan as one of the premeds prior to chemo. They also gve me Benadryl, decadron and Emend. Eat a good breakfast before you go. I brought snacks like pretzels and bottled water. Many times the center will have drinks and snacks for the patients. I tried to drink lots of water the day before, day of and days after. I also used a stool softener, Collace, for the constipation which usually hit days 1 to day 4. Prunes, raisins or apricots help too.

This is what I did.  They gave me anti-nausea medicine before my treatment so I didn't take my anti-nausea meds all the time.  I took a pill with me.  I also took snacks which they said was ok.  I had a port so I think that made the process easier.  I also took crosswords, magazines, etc....  I did get Neulasta shots the day after the chemo.

Thanks everyone. I making a list as I read your advice. Helps to hear that it is do-able and how I can help take care of myself. Will let you know how it goes and I'm already drinking lots of fluid.
