Hello this is paul, Susie's husband.  Susie has TNBC with mets to lymph nodes and is taking Gemzar, Carboplatin and Avastin.

I've written before about the Gemzar causing this peripheral edema; swelling about the legs and arms.

This is where I would love your help and personal experience to maybe help her.  She has extra swelling last night and today in her arm region and her left breast (one with tumor) is swollen larger than other.

**question** are there any tricks, techniques anybody can pass to me that helps to maybe shift or move the fluid so as to give her comfort?  I know in congestive heart failure patients often have swelling in their legs from the fluid the heart can't pump off. They use those TED pressure stockings to help the fluid not set up shop. Any tricks, techniques and general advice would be just so appreciated.  Thank you and I wish everyone who reads this feels good or better today; any small improvement or reason for happiness.

Sincerely,
Paul Motheral

Paul, she may be dealing with some lymphedema and the best resource for that is seeing a PT therapist.  A therapist licensed for this type of problem.

Here are some links for you, http://www.lymphnet.org/

Also I can recommend a good book that I use at home called
Lymphedema A Breast Cancer Patient's Guide to Prevention and Healing by Jeannie Burt and Gwen White, P.t..

If you are like me and too far away from a therapist this book I have found to be a tremendous help.  It has good information and easy to understand directions and illustrations.
