Another of our wonderful sisters has become an angel. Samantha Pritchett (Justpayton1) fought hard to battle this horrendous disease and died on May 18, 2011. She left her two precious boys, her wonderful Dad and Step Mom, her Aunt Alice, and so many others that loved her dearly and will miss her tremendously. God bless you, Sam. We will all miss you.

I'm so sorry to hear it, and generally echo what Donna said. The suffering caused by this disease is overwhelming. Linda, how did you get to know Samantha? If you like, please tell us more about her so we can honor her life, struggle, and passing. Denise

I'm so sad to read this. I read some of Samantha's posts on another site and checked in on her care page from time to time. I hate this disease so much!

Sam was only 40 years old. I knew her from the breastcancer.org site, we were both diagnosed 2/09. When she progressed, I followed up on her progress, and then went over to her page on carepages.com. She was diagnosed at 38, so very, very young - and now she's gone at 40. She only began her rads on her spine for pain on the 14th - and then gone on the 18th. It's just mind-blowing. I have attached her obit, which I copied from Englishmajor's post over on BCO. This is so horribly sad.

Hi all I am not triple negative but I wanted to share some memories of Sam. Some of the Stage IV people at bc.org started to meet up on Sunday nights in the BC.org chatroom. That's how I met Sam.
I was on a business trip and offline for about a week and a half. Sam sent a PM to ask if I was ok. Both of us were wary of weirdos from the Internet. If Sam had not reached out to me, we wouldn't really have gotten to know each other. One woman from bc.org, now since gone had struck up a friendship with Sam. This encouraged Sam to extend herself.
We exchanged many PMs, mostly with the little things of the day. She would tell me about going for a walk with her dog, Payton. I asked her the dog was named after football great Walter--she was.
Sam loved being a mom and she loved watching her boys play sports and watching sports with her boys. She would give me her opinion of the latest Bears game and she took inspiration from players like Walter with so much heart. There was a famous video showing Walter's grueling daily run up "Mt. Garbage" a hill in a landfill. Sam remembered that.
Sam worried for her family. Her own mom died of BC when Sam was 7. I can't imagine her father dealing with the loss of his wife and now their only daughter. Sam said that when she was anxious she liked to keep busy with cleaning and household chores. She said her dad was the same way. He sent her flowers every month--Sam was on a first name basis with the delivery guy.
Sam had a natural warmth--she had a big heart. She touched many people and will be dearly missed.

EnglishMajor,
Thank you for sharing your memories of Sam. It sounds she touched many lives, including your own. You were able to share the essence of her spirit and let us that didn't know her, glimpse a little closer to the woman that she was. Such a beautiful soul gone too soon.
Donna
