Macomb, Linda A. McGaughey, 62, of Macomb passed away at 8:40 PM Thursday January 20, 2011 at McDonough District Hospital. She was born November 15, 1948 in Rock Island, IL to Arthur and Arline (Russ) Elston. She married Ted McGaughey on January 9, 1993 in Macomb, IL; he survives. She was preceded in death by her parents. Linda was the proud owner and operator of Farmhouse Designs Embrordery of Macomb. She also worked as a tax preparer for 18 years at H&R Block of Macomb. Linda never turned away from a challenge whether it was her embroidery business, a difficult tax return or her 11 year battle with cancer. She never met a stranger and always had an opinion on anything if you dared to ask her. Cremation Rites have been accorded. By Linda’s request there will be no services. Due to her love of animals she requested memorial contributions be made to the McDonough County Animal Shelter. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. I'm so sorry.
Please tell us her user name here if you happen to know it. I do know a Linda from this site, but didn't realize she was extremely ill. Maybe this is someone else?
Love, Denise

Denise, this too is a local friend of mine and was never involved here. She was with me each week in chemo. I am heartbroken about Linda's passing. I've watched her slide since I've been in chemo since September and she was getting worse but telling me each week while holding my hand that I was going to be fine. I have 2 chemo treatments left before I start radiation, and I don't know how I'm going to do them without her. Thanks.
Love,
Juanita

Juanita, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend. It is so hard when we see that another sister has lost her battle with this awful disease! I see she has been fighting this fight for 11 years so that is good for us who follow. I will take 11 years, won't you? Won't all of us? Life is so fragile and look at all the people she has touched on her journey.
A life well lived even with 11 years of cancer.
God Bless Linda, her family, all her friends and pets that she so dearly loved.
My sincere condolences to you all. Love Helen in NS
