This is one of my first posts here and I'm hoping you ladies can provide me with some insight.  My signature tells my story so I'll just cut the chase.  I have been experiencing pain on the left side of my body for the last couple weeks.  It started in my hip area and radiated down toward my knee.  I have a really hard time getting up after I have been sitting for a long period of time but I also notice it towards the end of the day as well.  Last night I noticed that the area under my left armpit, where I had the nodes removed, was sore and my arm feels strange.  This morning I couldn't put my rings on my left hand since my fingers were swollen.  I swear if you cut my body in half, the right side is fine but the left is a HOT MESS!!

Is this all just the lovely lingering side effects of chemo.  Should I place a call to anyone.

Thanks Ladies!

Lindsey

The arm problems could be lymphedema.  I would definitely call someone ASAP about the arm issues and finger swelling.  If the hip pain is new it is also worth getting checked out, even if only to diagnose it.

Wishing you the best with everything.  Sue

Maybe lymphadema in the arm/chest and sciatica radiating down your spine?  Sorry you are in pain.

Here is a website to look into lymphedema..

When they do surgery to remove lymph nodes it can cause issues on down the road.  You can just feel funny, numbish, hurt some, it's just weird.  I've heard some women say the surgeons cut through some nerves but my surgeon swore he did not.
I'm still dealing with it on and off, my arms, underarms, chest after 8 yrs.

Thank you everyone.  I decided to call and get an appt with my surgeon since my oncologist in on maternity leave.  My surgeon was very proactive and had me go to the lymphedema center at the hospital to learn the massage techniques prior to me having my mastectomy.  I don't know why I didn't think the hand swelling could be that.  I'll do some of the massages in the meantime until my appt next week.

Lindsey,
I didn't see your post early enough to reply before you made the appointment with your surgeon. You had lots of good advice concerning the lymphadema. I still have some puffiness under my arm and numish down the underside of my arm. Sometimes it is worse than others and this is 4 years since I finished treatment.

I am so glad you were able to get some mental and emotional relief here before the week-end. The hip and knee pain could be a host of things not related to cancer. Good to have it checked out though.

God Bless,
Lillie
