Hi girls

Just in last minute my oncologist want to give me Ixempra instead of Avastin. Does any of you had this kombination. What sideeffects to expect ?? and does any of you have good outcomes ??
I am starting tomorrow, and because the drug is not yet approved in Denmark, I have to stay here, under my chemo.
We just packed nearly all our stuff, it is tough to deal with stage 4, how do you find the stringth/good mood ??

Avastin is pretty new. i know some who are on it.But my Dr says no because ive been stage iv for 5 years, She said its used on new stage iv pts.I also asked about Ixempra.Same thing. I get this explanation about how some of the new drugs are sisters of old drugs If it didnt work the first time ,it wont the second, just less side effects.  Trust your Dr. Everyone is different.Dont be afraid to question your Dr on why he giving you this.
Im on Doxcil and I cant find anyone on it but my Dr has had 10 years of success with advanced stage iv.
 Hope this helps

Hi Jill

Thankyou for the answer. My oncologist says that it works different from AC/T, so I hope that is true. I have been looking at the internet to find more information. I am BRCA1+, and it has "only" spread to the left armpit and neck. Good luck to you!

My understanding is that Ixempra is usually saved for later, because it is more effective than some other chemos when the cancer has become resistant to lther treatments.  Maybe I misunderstand, though.

You could go to www.bcmets.org and search for comments.  See what Musa Mayer has to say.
