Here is some information about a free program for couples. Couples = breast cancer patient + male support ie. husband, brother, adult son, friend, father.
The
Partners in SurvivalTM Workshop will help couples navigate the challenge of a breast cancer diagnosis by teaching men proven problem solving techniques that focus on the needs of the breast cancer patient and family. The goal of the workshop is to improve the quality of patient survivorship by creating a unique, male-friendly environment that provides men with skills that are practical and easy to understand.
This workshop is designed to:
•
Directly improve breast cancer patients’ quality of life and survival rates by educating and supporting the men in their lives.
•
Help men to be more effective caregivers through education and empowerment.
• Increase participants’ knowledge of breast cancer, treatment, available resources and life after treatment.
•
Develop support systems for men dealing with similar circumstances.
•
Provide ongoing resources and materials to participants.
Recent research indicates that women with breast cancer benefit medically and emotionally from having strong social support. This exciting workshop will focus on the needs of men who support these women.
