Hello Friends!
I wish Nancy a happy birthday today! This was the first Thanksgiving since going through treatment, and we had the family over. We decided to play cards after dinner and I noticed my wife shuffling the deck. At first I did not notice it and then I saw what she was doing, and we were all so happy! Before she had pains in her hands and fingers because of Taxol and was not able to shuffle cards. Seeing her able to do this brought new joy to us on Thanksgiving day. Life is slowly returning and getting better. What milestones did you experience after treatment?

Wife diagnosed 7/08 stage 2B 4.78cm with 3 nodes. 15 weeks of Adriamycin and Cytoxin, Mastectomy, 12 weeks of Taxol, and 6.5 weeks of radiation.

1. My first complement on my 'haircut', after about 1/4inch of regrowth.
2. When the polish I put on my toes just after diagnosis finally grew out. I watched that little red half moon traverse my nail like a cloud passing overhead to finally disappear over the horizon. 3. My first day back at work. 4. Every 'first' holiday after treatment. July 4th, my birthday, Thanksgiving. 5. Our first post-treatment vacation. the list goes on.....great topic!...and congrats on your wife's newly nimble fingers. Love, Denise |

As Denise said, there are so many milestones, some major and some that seem so trivial but are a big deal to us. I`m so happy to hear about your wife having a"normal" moment with many more to come. 1. I remember the first time I had enough eyelashes to apply mascara. It was such a big deal to me after losing them. 2. I just had my first PET/CT scan & brain CT in the last few weeks. They both came back NED and are the biggest and best milestones after tx so far. Congratulations on your wife's improvements and hope she has many more. Terri, Great news about the scans and NED. I remember when I joined I had no idea what NED meant. Now I think it's the sweetest word anyone can say! |

Congratulations on your wife's milestones!! Almost each day is milestone.. But to say life is slowy returning I think is so true!!
Having hair and going without a wig, not being soo tired and making it a normal "whole" day,having scans,MRI's mammograms be NED all wonderful milestones and many more!! Just so thankful for today!! |

I'm having my first haircut today since I whacked it all off the end of February. I want it to grow long again, so I'm reluctant to cut it.......but it's just a big fuzzy mess, so must get a trim for shape!
I found my lump last Xmas eve. It just dawned on me that I'm feeling much anxiety going into the holiday season........the Xmas before last my mother was dying from breast cancer (she died Jan 5), so I've had 2 very stressful holiday season's in a row, and I need to get a grip. I remember last year taking my tree down and being extra careful packing away the ornaments, thinking "I might not be the one unpacking these next time........." Well, I will be the one unpacking them, the boxes are sitting in my living room. That should make me feel good, right? I'm suddenly very emotional, not the normal me at all.

I just passed 2 years from dx....I am thankful for every Christmas that comes around ...2 years ago things did not look good and here I am celebrating 2 years later....anyone who is going thru treatment or just found out please know that you can get thru it and things will get better...
