Thank you Krisa for letting us know.
She joined October 2008 - she had the expander out last month- she was last on the forum May 2, 2009.
This is so sudden and she was so young.

I had to go back and check Facebook after I wrote that she had died, hoping that I had misunderstood what people were writing on her Facebook page. I am in shock.

Oh my God, I am stunned. What the hell happened? She was just diagnosed not long ago, right, and had some bone mets? That makes me so very sad. Wow, that was horribly fast.

Anger, RAGE at this horrible disease. We must find a cure, NOW. I will do everything I can to make this happen. Our group got word that we are funded by SUTC to do a triple negative trial and personalized oncology study for metastatic disease. We have to keep ourselves alive long enough to kick this things ass for the next generation. f**k f**k f**k

For some reason I never got her on my Facebook friends, so I hadn't known about this. I went back and read some of her posts, she seemed really sweet. I wish I had known her better.
Oh, crap, she was on my FB friends. But I never corresponded with her. I wish I could go back and do better.

Hi Cmtrots
I do not. She was diagnosed, with bc last october then went to bone mets. It must have spread pretty quickly or perhaps she died of another matter.

My name is John. I had the great fortune to have been married to Laurie Newell. She was the greatest person that I ever met. When she was diagnosed in October with breast cancer, it seemed early and we were expecting to beat it. She had surgery in November and began chemo in December. Unfortunately, she had a fast moving type that soon found its way into her bones. Treatment was going well (although her platelets were often low and she needed quite a few transfusions) and she was looking forward to finishing chemo and starting radiation. Near the end of April, Laurie began to experience migraine like headaches. These really wiped her out. During her regular doctor's visit on May 7th, it was suggested that she go to the hospital for tests. During one of the scans, it was discovered that cancer cells were in her spinal fluid. It was also during this time that she suffered 2 debilitating seizures (one one the 14th & one on the 21st). The decission was made to install an Ommaya Resevoir into her skull. This would enable them to inject chemo into the spinal fluid. The cancer was too quick and she died on Memorial Day. If she were here today, she would tell all of you to keep battling. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak. Laurie will be loved & missed.

Ohh hello John and let me please express my condolences to you and your family. I just loved Laurie, what a sweet person.
I am so glad you came here to tell us what happened to Laurie.
I also visited with her in Facebook and saw pictures of your little girl. She is such a cutie.
You are all in my prayers, Julie was just so precious and full of life.
Take care and again thank you

Laurie loved this forum. She would often comment about something that she read or something that she wrote. She found strength, but also humor and friendship. I thank all of you that helped during her ordeal. It really meant alot.
