Hi,

Thanks for posting, but i find that the result here does not really synchronize with the result from the one you posted in "Clinical outcome of TNBC"

Does that mean triple negative in african americans are different from triple negative bc in general?

Or are these 2 merely conflicting reports? will be great if someone can give some input as well..

Jason I received a phone call so lost my thought but reading the other report it seemed to encompass all with different types of triple neg.

Also these are average figures, we are all different.
You will see all kinds of confusing reports.

If that doesn't help please let me know,

Hi Pam,
Thanks for clarifying. According to the report in "Clinical outcome of TNBC" 75% of TNBC has a disease free survival during a 7 years follow up.

But the report in this study shows a different overall stats for African American. So I was wondering if African American triple negative was different.

And another thing I did not understand was, why does the DFS (Disease free survival) is longer than overall survival in some of the stages?

I thought overall survival should be longer than disease free survival. Kind of confused about this. Perhaps I interpreted it wrongly?

Jason, now you have got me confused, nothing new here you understand.  Just not enough coffee yet.Smile

Yes, African Americans, Latinos get TNBC mostly at a younger age.  Caucausions also get TNBC but not as many as the younger African Americans.  It is harder on the young African Americans and they are working to figure this out.

Sometimes in these articles they will use these terms of DFS or OS to see how the results turn out.  They cannot know for sure, no one does.

If you go back and read on the front page of this website it will explain more about triple negative and please ask away, we'll help you however we can.

Have a nice holiday,-

Pam,
Thanks for explaining.
I thought triple negative is rare and is more dangerous for those who have it.

I did not know that it is more dangerous for African american.
So I guess it's because African American tend to get TN at a younger age compared to others who get it at an older age, and getting TN at an older age is less dangerous, am I correct?

I'm trying to learn more about TN, and thanks again for explaining.

Good morning Jason,

Triple Negative bc is more aggressive as we only have chemo and rads for treatments at this point.
It is just that it seems to show up in larger numbers with the younger African Americans but it is a nasty disease for anybody.  Caucasian women get it also, just in smaller numbers.

Here are a couple of more places that might help you to understand better.

Has you or a loved on been diagnosed with TNBC?

Best wishes,

Pam
