Hi, I am Susie. I am just beginning to use this site even though I joined in December I started treatments and just didn't get on any more till recently.
I want to know how to put my stats at the end.
Also, my chemo was 4 rounds of AC. I noticed reading all these posts, that many of you also took Taxol or Taxtere. I am wondering now why that was not prescribed for me.
I know nothing of what vitamins I am supposed to be taking. I have read some posts mentioning Vitamin D.I bought a book on the anti-cancer diet and trying to apply the advice there.
I feel like I am late doing all this, but I had so much going on in my "world" besides BC, it was the best I could do. I want to get more involved now.
I would appreciate some help on this. I am feeling alone and overwhelmed.
I see the surgeon and have my follow up mammogram June 22. I wat to be prepared with some questions.
Many thanks,
Susie

Susie,
Hi, I am Mary and I too was dx stage 1, grade 3, lumpectomy, sentinel node negative. We had the exact same treatment except I had taxotere. I would call your onc and ask. I am sure there is a reason, maybe you could not tolerate it, etc. They always tell me in this group if you feel something is not done correctly don't hesitate to call your doc.
I am taking a lot of the same stuff advised on no surrender site. http://nosurrenderbreastcancer.websitetoolbox.com/post?id=3248742 This is the CAM regimen.
I still feel like I am in a fog from all of this and I just had my one-year anniversary. I guess we need time to put this all in perspective.
I am hoping some of the other, more informed ladies in this group will chime in and give you more info.
If it were me, I would call today. It will ease your mind.
Mary

Susie,
I think your advice is on target. I have been getting cytoxan and taxotere (no adriaymcin because my onc was concerned about heart damage). I understand that taxanes are typical as part of treatment.
Unfortunately, I've developed breathing problems and my onc says it might be from Taxotere (a rare reaction -- of course!!) and we may need to change course on chemo treatment. I see him next week.
So I'll be paying attention to what other folks post.

Hi Minnie!
I am doing the five-year study in which they are trying to determine if Adriamycin can be left out of the picture entirely and just do the taxotere and cytoxan. I was lucky and got the Adriamycin anyway. ugh. My MUGA for my heart was great so they gave me the works. New stuff is coming up all of the time for treatment options (thank goodness,) esp for BRCA+ etc.
Have a lovely day. Hope to hear more about this. Mary

I have not had any follow up tests yet. I was absolutely at peace since my dx in October. Now that my treatments are completed , I have begun to worry, weird, huh? Thank you for your reply. Susie

Hi Susie,
I know the feeling I still worry, when I was in treatment I felt like I was fighting the disease, but when treatment ends you're expected to get back to living.
I see my oncologist every three months and she does a blood test, I don't have annual scans or anything else. If I have a ache or any unusual symptoms that last longer than 2 weeks then she'll do more test.
Hope this helps.
Pat

Hi Susie! You are welcome for the link. I am one-year out from my biopsy. I am still going crazy with worry about recurrance. I know it is just post-treatment anxiety but it doesn't help. As Pat does I see my onc every three months for the blood workup, tumor markers etc. I called up my onc again a week later just to make sure it was okay... see you are not alone. Try and have a stress-free evening. Mary p.s. I take Xanax for the really bad days ... Holler if you need anything.

Susie,
No evidence of disease.
Don't be afraid to ask your doc for any medications you think may help. Mine have been very good about the pain, anxiety and depression.
Mary
