Hi, My best friend's diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. Her sisiter was diagnosed 2 and 1/2 years ago and they were told at the time this was not hereditory. Now they're saying it is!!
I noticed there was a teleconference about new treatments that I missed. Is there anyway that I could get a copy of it to send to my friend?

Thank you,
Mandy

Hi Mandy and welcome,

I am so sorry to hear that your friend has been dx with TNBC, but you definitely have found the site for information which will help her.

Did you friend's sister ever have the BRCA testing? If not they both should now. 85% of BRCA1 gene mutations are TNBC. Here is a link for the FORCE website, and there is much information which may help your friend.

I will have to ask Pam to pull up the link for the teleconference, or maybe someone else will be able to tell you how to find that. In the meantime I will send you a private message with my email so that I can send you information for all the resources  here on the site.

Many hugs,
Nancy

Hi Mandy

Here is the link to the teleconference on the Living Beyond Breast Cancer website.

It gives a lot of background on the sub-type and some targeted therapies they are looking into.  Also a lot of nutritional info.  You can also find a ton of info on the forum for news tips and resources.  Also if you google triple negative breast cancer studies you will get a ton of hits, which are probably all on the news forum.

There was a teleconference last year and its up on this site (TNBC events, past events, 2008) here is the link to make it easier

I learned so much from that one when I was a newbie.

Your friend is lucky to have someone like you in her life.

HUgs and Best Wishes!!

Mandy,
It looks like the ladies provided you with alot of info. I just wanted to chime in and say how impressed I am that you are researching for your BF.  Unfortunately for me, my best friend thought since I was diagnosed with stage 1 that it was no big deal and she bailed on me after a couple of chemo treatments. It was very heartbreaking and I felt so rejected at the worst time of my life. She still has no idea how serious Tn is (she never took the time to read the articles I sent her) and she had the nerve to tell me if SHE HAD CANCER she would just be positive and not worry about recurrence or mets. I never would have thought she could be so uncaring after our many years of friendship.
Your friendship is so important to your best friend now. Be there for her even if she acts like she`s so strong that she doesn`t need any help. I didn`t mean to bombard you with my BF issue, your post just kind of brought it all back.
Bless you both and let us know how she is doing. Hug

Hugs, Terri
