Hello all - I haven't posted in a while. It's been a long journey, compounded by the fact that my husband was diganosed with metastatic melanoma 4 weeks before my last chemo which was June 21st. But we both keep on keeping on. I am mid-way through rads, but I have had lots of side-effects from chemo, and just this last week, my oncologist told me the severe pain that I am having in my "good" arm and hand is carpal tunnel. I already have moderate neuropathy in both hands and had assumed the pain was related. He says that he is certain I have carpal tunnel. He explained that there is a breast cancer chemo that causes carpal tunnel, but I did NOT receive that one. I got the red devils, and taxol. He says this is just coincidence, but I am having a hard time believing that. Can anyone give me their input on this?
I have a lot of faith in my oncologist here at Hopkins in Baltimore, but since there IS a chemo that causes carpal tunnel, this just seems like a coincidence beyond belief.

Thanks,

Jean

Jean,

Oh boy, Iam so sorry for what you and the Hubby have had to deal with. My prayers are with you both.
I honestly have not seen it on these boards about a connection between any chemo and carpel tunnel. I would seek the advice of the specialist that deals with carpel tunnel. I know you have faith in your onc, but he is not the one to diagnose it, especially without the proper testing or imaging. Years ago I had a physiatrist (specializes in physical rehabilitation) rule that out at the reccomendation or an Orthopedist.
Please keep us updated to how you are doing.

Once again my prayers are with you both.
