Diagnosed in November

Had my first chemo on Monday and today is day 4.  I felt fine after my treatment and the next day went back for the shot.  Tuesday evening I started feeling tired.  My face got red/flushed that evening, I'm assuming from the shot.  Wed I had a good day.  Still felt tried but was able to do 2 loads of laundry and clean my bathroom.  That evening I ended the day with a really bad headache that lasted all night and all day today.  I thought it was my TMJ, so I did take a muscle relaxer but it didn't help like it usually does?  I called this afternoon and they called me in Tramadol, that has helped some.  I only took one but think I will need to take 2 when the time comes because the headache is coming back and never completely went away. 

I really like my nurse who will be taking care of me through my treatments.  She was so sweet and told me to ask her anything no matter how big or small.  It was her job to take care of me.  She said to pay attention to this week and how I feel that this will indicate how my other treatments will go until they change my chemo meds. 

So far the shot has not caused me any problems except the red/flushed face.  I took Claritin 2/3 days before I was to get the shot & will take it for another 3 days after.

Hello!

It has been while since I posted and I wanted to check in.  I am happy to say I am 6 treatments done and only 2 more to go.  I tolerated the Adriamycin/Cytoxan  well.  The worst for me was the fatigue. I did not enjoy the tastebuds changing but it was manageable. My last 2 really caught up with me as far as my blood work. My HGB and ANC got low so I struggled with anemia (which I have read is common).  I started Taxotere and my first treatment kicked my butt.  Did not handle it near as well as the A/C.  Terrible body aches, low grade fever, thrush, hands heat sensitive and fingers numb...it put me in bed about 5 days.  My dr. put me on some good pain meds.  What tastebuds might have been left have finished burning off.  Nothing tastes good...there isn't much that actually tastes at all!  I had my 2nd taxotere April 21 and did better this time.  The nurse spoke to my dr about all the side effects I had and put me on steroids for 5 days after my treatment.  (The first time I started steroids 2 in the morning and 2 at night the day before treatment & then the day after)  At the 2nd treatment I still did the steroids the day before and then finished with a steroid pack.  I was just so glad and blessed I did ok this time because Fri I was able to attend my older sons Air Force ROTC dining out. I was very tired but I made it.  A friend drove me to the function and waited for me then drove me back home.  My next treatment is May 5th and then that Friday my son has his Commissioning Ceremony.  The next day is my daughters showcase for dance.  I am praying I do as good next time so that I can go...well, I'll go even if my husband has to give me a ride on his back!  I would just like to remember the occasion! I am so proud of my son. 

I go for my mammogram on Wed and then back to my surgeon on Friday.  I guess this will be the norm for a couple of years?

I have to share that I am so thankful for my husband & children, family & friends for the support, love, and especially the prayer!  Don't think I would have done as well without all the encouragement and support.
