Good evening all.  I am the adult son of a current TNBC patient.
This note was well received last year at the first of several infusions spent with my parents. There are many words on this forum more skilled than mine ... but hopefully these are still useful to a TNBC family member - kind regards - Gerald

Dear Mom,

In the ridges of Pennsylvania
Travel is so often up and down.
Getting somewhere takes a while
But each sunrise cures a frown.

When we were young you taught us
More than writing and counting 1,2,3
You showed us:  steep ground takes one step at a time
and that God is bigger than the things we see

And so I scratch down these few short lines
No matter the incline of the hill:
This note is just a reminder
That we love you ... and we always will.

Love,
Gerald

I am the son of a TNBC patient.  The simple words below just note small acts of kindness from friends and neighbors.  May you each have a few stubborn flowers in your life.

The Snow Crocus

One day in late winter
On a yet cold afternoon
I saw bold little petals
But the timing seemed too soon.

I thought: "Oh brave flower
you seem quite unaware
That the fields around you
Are still white and bare."

But the snow crocus remains
And holds a small bloom true.
It bears the hopeful message
That spring can still come through.

TNBC is harsh on my parents.
It feels like winter's chill,
But you - you encourage my mom
As I suppose good people will.

She smiles when she hears from you
As you likely already know.
Thank you so much for being
A crocus in the snow.

Kind Regards,
Gerald

Dear Gerald,

Lovely again, but I was upset to read the "harsh on my parents. It feels like winter's chill."

If you would ever just like to talk I would be happy to do that. Please send me a PM and I can set up a Zoom. I am not a medical professional and I won't give you medical advice but maybe I can be a resource for you in some way?

or you can send an email to info@sagepatientadvocates.org and I will respond.

In the meantime, you are a gifted writer and I believe your words are helpful. Thanks for sharing.

warmly,

Steve

Gerald thanks for sharing your beautiful poem. I'm glad you are blessed with kind neighbors and friends. A small gesture goes a long way, we all need a need to be surrounded by good people in our lives. Sending good vibes to you and your family.
