I want to give a thumbs up to a relatively recent procedure in which contrast dye can be injected into your arm right before you have your mammogram. This is called a Contrast Enhanced Mammogram. The doctor who read mine told me that in her opinion, this is just as good as getting a breast MRI. And it costs a whole lot less (out of pocket expenses). It is considered a type of diagnostic mammogram and the doctor will read it directly. Here in Virginia, we have 2 hospitals which offer this. Sarah Cannon Institute (affiliated with Henrico Doctors Hospital) in Richmond, and Univ. of VA Medical Center in Charlottesville. I hope, in time, other hospitals will invest in this. I send my love and best wishes to everyone!
