Connie, I thought of you when I lost my 15 year old Frisco, german shep mix, on Sept 2nd because I knew you would understand my pain. I hope as Denise says you silently visit us. Nonetheless, you are always in our hearts and on our minds and we miss you dearly.

Terri,
So sorry about the loss of your Frisco. We lost our 14 year old lab, Katie, in July. Our pets become such a part of our family it hurts terribly when we have to say good bye to them. I know Connie would understand our loss. She has such a bond with Paco. I hope he's doing well.

Thankyou Donna. I`m so sorry about your loss of Katie also. I cling to the hope that they are young and running around playing, pain free, waiting until the day when we will be together again. Otherwise there is no such thing as heaven for me.
I remember Paco had some health issues and I too really hope he is doing well.

Boy oh Boy, can I relate. We lost Harry 8 years ago. I said I would never have another. We had him 14 years also. But recently I brought home the sweetest little Yorkie. We are match made in heaven. I thank the Lord for her each and every day.

Carol: I am so happy to hear about your new Yorkie! They are so seet and I am sure knows that the home he has with you is a wonderful gift! I wish I had the time to do that too! They are so sweet! My neighbor has one and I guess we share her, Molly. She knows me well and always says hello at the back door. They are so knowing.
Yes, I hope Paco is doing ok with Connie as well. Connie we are here for ya! Stay the course and set your sails for the north!
Having pets in the family are just that, part of the family and when they hurt or pass on, we hurt too. If I couldn't imagine my Mystique or Major playing around in heaven with all the other dogs, I too would be devastated. St. Francis is the patron saint of the animals and we have special days to bring our animals to church for a special blessing. So there ya go girls, now we know that our pets are just as important to God as they are to us. Love Helen xoxo

Dear all,
yesterday I posted my "try to find the beauty in each day" thoughts...well, today I am delighted to tell all of you that I received a lovely card from Connie and today I was blessed with two pieces of beauty..lunch with a wonderful advocate and Connie's card.
I had sent her a letter last month and enclosed some cards from various Catholic Churches in Cartagena, Colombia where I had prayed for her. I also enclosed a newspaper article from the Bahamas that I was in about BRCA. She always laughingly called me "our BRCA man" and acknowledged that I was the only Ashkenazi Jew who prayed for her in so many churches.
Some of what she sent me will not be posted, at her request..but I wanted to share two things with all of you-
Connie speaking of Dr. Dent, her oncologist in Toronto-
"One thing I will say is that no greater advocate, compassionate, caring human being will you ever find wearing a stethoscope!"
and
I wrote your name on a piece of paper, but by accident I threw it away I wrote your name on my hand, but it washed away I wrote your name in the sand, and the waves whispered it away I wrote your name in my heart, and forever it will stay I believe in angels, the kind that heaven sends I am surrounded by angels, but I call them my friends
Anonymous-
well the author may be Anonymous but it beautifully expresses what is in Connie's heart and I believe it is meant for all of us in our marvelous TNBC Foundation family..
We love you, too, Connie..
Prayers continue,
Steve
p.s. don't you love that line?...the waves whispered it away and I wrote your name in my heart and forever it will stay..
whew...o.k. so now I am crying a bit...we can cry here, right? and at the same time I am truly rejoicing that I heard from Connie...her handwriting is clear and firm...thank you for writing, dear friend...I did a double take when I saw your return address label and literally screamed out, YES!!!! I guess I was missing you just a little, huh?...
For those of you who are new and may not know Connie...She is a medical transcriptionist who has devoted much of her life to helping us here navigate the cancer journey and in recent months has been battling this horrific disease. She has touched many of us with her insightful, compassionate, posts.
We are all rooting for her..

Steve, Such wondrous news about Connie. It brings such joy to hear that she has reached out and contacted you. It must be all those Catholic churches you prayed in! "I believe in angels, the kind that heaven sends I am surrounded by angels, but I call them my friends"
You "BRCA man" are our angel, along with everyone else that make up this TNBCF family.

Thank u for posting this. I OFTEN think of Connie. She was THE FIRST who opened her heart and mind to me when I stumbled across this board last year as a STAGE IIB....I have since crossed over into Metastatic Land. It is NICE to hear something about the ones we think SO MUCH OF. We continue to BATTLE.....I hope the beast is responding to treatments. I KNOW it is a NEVER ENDING ROLLER COASTER RIDE. I want to return the FAVOR and NOW slip her a little hope. I am KNOCKING on the door of REMISSION...Scans this past week showed CLEAN LIVER! Mediastinal Nodes CLEAN! Mammary Nodes CLEAN! We are trying to MOP up the little bit on the chest wall! Doctor said AMAZING response to treatment......OH CONNIE.....WE CAN AND WILL DO THIS.....I HAVE to believe there is SOMETHING right around the corner for us.......I pray for you Connie.....and ALL the others who battle the beast.
Steve, You too have been SO VERY KIND.....THANK GOD FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU IN THIS WORLD THAT AT TIMES CAN BE SOOOOOOO UGLY.......
Lots of LOVE,
Diane
