Hi all,
I wanted to share some good en probably interesting news.
Ive been diagnosed with mets this feb, 6 years after IBC TNBC.
I do not have an BRCA mutation.  I wasnt keen on starting chemo since neoadjuvant chemos 6 years ago didnt give good results.
My onc did offer me a clinical trial with Olaparib, a parp inhibitor since some TNBC do respond well to a parp inhibtor. changes were low..... but.... my scan after 8 weeks parp shows a tumor regression and / or tumor stability. What a good news!
Is anyone else with BRCA - TNBC on a parp inhibitor ?

wow! I am glad to hear this!

Im BRCA1+ and start a clinical trial next week for Valiparib. I'm not sure if I'll be on chemo or not with my parp inhibitor. I'll find out once I finish all the pre-trial tests on Tuesday. I'm counting on this working so your news (though a different parp) is good news :)

Babymelany,

Here's another thread talking about Veliparib/ABT888.  Keep us posted on how the trial goes for you.

Kelly,

My mets were also diagnosed in February 2014 AND were in my lymph nodes (left Supraclavicular lymph node and several others).  My oncologist had be do 6 rounds of Ixempra and Xeloda.  I was NED after 3 rounds and again after 6.  I am now on a chemo "break", but I am researching to see what options I have to keep it at bay, preferably forever, but for as long as possible.

I saw your post and am very curious about this, especially since we have similar mets.

Could you please update and tell me anything/everything you possibly can about your mets, this drug you're taking, side effects, etc. so I can take this information to my oncologist?

Thank you!
Wendi

there a little side effects to olaparib
ive had nausea in the first weeks and tiredness
i will have my next scan this week, results next week
just ask your onc about trials with olaparib
there are some tnbc that are brca negative that do respond to olaparib, find an onc who is w willing to put you in a trial with olaparib  (i dont know if there is one in the us)if you are in texas, you should probably go to md anderson
great news you responded well to xeloda, what is ixempra?

My scan last week showed that olaparib is no longer working. Will start with Carboplatinum soon. Sad and scared but also thankful olaparib did give me an extra 6 months.
