Hi,
I am new to this forum and just registered today. I hope I am posting correctly.  I just finished reading 100 Questions and Answers about Triple Negative Breast Cancer which I discovered from this website.  I was diagnosed with TNBC two years ago, and I am doing well now and am active after my bilateral mastectomy and chemotherapy.  I am wanting to switch to a supplement/multivitamin that is a good choice for my history as a 41 year old woman.  I feel that each provider I speak with has a different opinion about this.  I was wondering what readers can share from what has worked for them.  I know the book I just read mentioned to pay attention to vitamin D and calcium.  Any tips on diet that have been helpful?  I have read the importance of low-fat, but what amount daily?
Any of your insights or experiences would be appreciated.
Warmly,
Debra

Welcome Debra,

Congrats on doing well two years out!  The recommendations I've received is exercise and the anti-inflammatory diet is best for us (think Mediterranean diet).  I also take a baby aspirin, multivitamin, Citracel, Vitamin D3 (5000ius), calcium/magnezium/zinc, selenium, fish oil and turmeric.

Have you had your Vitamin D level tested?  Most of us with TNBC are deficient.  It took many months to get mine to an optimal level.

Hi Debra,

I have also received the recommendations that Donna mentions above. Also, many of us here follow a complementary and alternative regimen of supplements and vitamins posted in the No Surrender Breast Cancer Foundation that is known as EDGE's CAM:

http://nosurrenderbreastcancerhelp.org/page93/page92/page92.html

I've seen that doctors have different opinions about this. My oncologist encourages me to exercise and eat a healthy diet. He also has me on supplements and told me it was OK for me to take the ones in EDGE's CAM.

Another good read about lifestyle changes and cancer prevention is a book called Anti-Cancer: A New Way of Life by Dr. David Servan-Schreibner.

I'm not a doctor and I'm not qualified to give any medical advice or assurances about the effectiveness of any of these. I know that my doctor believes in them; I've adopted many changes in my diet and lifestyle. I feel good overall and I feel that I am at least doing something about it besides hoping and wishing for it to never come back.

Best,

Natalia

Here's an online link to Anticancer book by Dr. Servan-Schreiber.
