Does anyone have experience transitioning from oxycodone to CBD Canabidoil for neuopathic pain management?

I’m a 2 year survivor of TNBC. I developed CIPN during treatment, affecting my hands and feet. Post treatment, and a year later, I developed trigger finger in both thumbs. I had a few steroid shots and it helped for a few months, but stopped as my surgeon suggested surgery. I currently take 5mg oxycodone every 6 hours (minimum dose) which really helps reduce the pain. My hope is to eventually wean off this.

Hello,
First of all, I am sorry to hear you are having so much pain Thumbs Down

I have only been dealing with CIPN for the last 4 months, so cannot imagine what I will be facing two years out.

That being said, I have been treating my symptoms with a combination of gabapentin, CBD and or CBD/THC and lots of physical therapy. I still have some numbness and loss of sensation on this regimin, but minimal pain.

I find CBD in lower doses to be a pretty effective assist to the gabapentin. If I am having a particularly uncomfortable day, I will bump up to a 1:1 CBD/THC combo. The extra THC seems to make the CBD work a little better...or maybe it just relaxes my muscles enough that that reduces my pain. CDB is definitely worth a try in any case.

For high CDB treatment, I would recommend an oil based tincture, that contains at least 15mgs of CBD per dose.
I use Luminous Botanicals Cannabis Tonic Earth High CBD Blend. It contains 18mgs CBD, 2mgs THC per dose. Don't worry, the THC is not sufficient to cause a high. It's just there to help with the efficacy of the CBD.
You can swallow it, hold it under your tongue for a while for faster sublingual effect, or rub it on skin at effected areas (I will admit, I haven't tried the last option yet).
CBD is definitely a bit sedating in higher doses though, so you may want to start at a half dose and see how that treats you.
I found that generally, oil and edibles take at least an hour to kick in, so give yourself  that time to see how a dose effects you before taking more.
And definitely don't drive until you get used to the effects.

If straight CBD doesn't get it done, you may need to go with a CBD/THC combo, as a 1:1 ratio of the two may work a little more aggressively for pain. But of course, bumping up the THC will also come with the euphoric effect that it's known for, so keep that in mind. Wink

Hope that helps and is remotely timely for your purposes.

When reviewing CBD products ask them if the oil is from HEMP or is actual marijuana CBD - there IS a difference and I have found the actual CBD from marijuana to be more effective, but it is also MUCH harder to find. Also, keep walking and doing exercise. It really does help even if its simply walking around the block.  Good luck to you, I wish you well!!
