Hi there~ I was diagnosed with stage 2b TNBC in Dec 2016 at the age of 48.  I had a lumpectomy in January 2017 and started AC chemo in February.  I tolerated AC well enough.  Started Taxol in April 2017.  So far minimal Taxol side effects. I have 4 Taxol treatments left, then start 6 weeks of radiation.  I will also be having my ovaries removed sometime this Fall as I have a family history of ovarian cancer.  I am BRCA negative.

I am married and have two children (18 year old daughter and 12 year old son).  I've been able to continue working, although reduced hours, throughout my treatment.

I live in Alaska and must travel to Seattle for most major treatment, however I can do chemo and radiation in my home town.  Since I am almost done with treatment and need to start thinking about my survivorship plan, I thought it'd be a good idea to introduce myself and start using these boards as a way to figure out the questions I need to be asking.

Thanks!
Teresa

Hello Teresa and welcome to our special group.  Hope you'll find lots of support and information on these pages.  This is a club no one wants to join.  The wonderful members here will hopefully make you feel less alone as you go through your treatment and afterwards.  Thanks for sharing your story.

Hi tkinak: I think you are asking about follow-up once you finish the therapies. If you don't have lymph nodes involved, that is a better outcome, and might determine how often your doctors/oncologist wants a PET or MRI scan to look for any recurrences..

You could ask your doctors if you need a physical exam, and some local MRI or they want a larger body scan, usually, with TNBC I think once a year including  mammogram
