Hi All,

My mother is halfway through radiation treatment and she is experiencing heavy dizziness since yesterday. She used to have vertigo during chemo sessions, which was resolved after the chemo course.
But now she is experiencing a similar dizziness during radiation. Has anyone had such symptoms during radiation? I hope it is just a side effect of radiation and not anything to worry.

Ram, check your mom's BP (blood pressure).
Ensure that her blood pressure is normal and check it a few times (4-5x) a day or especially when she is feeling weak or dizzy and keep a log / note to share with your doctor.
My wife did get dizzy during FEC but her BP is on the lower side to begin with and she did feel dizzy, especially on the first infusion.
Our doctor advised we purchase a BP monitor and we did.
He said that BP going high is more dangerous so not to worry but monitor the BP and take rest when you feel weak.
Ensure that your mom is well hydrated with water and eating a well balanced diet so there is no overall weakness.
If hydrating well does not work, follow up with your physician.
The only side effects my wife felt after radiation was a bit of tiredness, and burn + darkening at the radiated sites.
Stay well. May God bless your mom.

Hi Ram, were you able to check your mothers Blood Pressure? It may make sense to follow up with your physician. Hope your mother is better. Stay well and push your doctor with any questions or concerns that you may have.
Stay good.

Hi Desh,

Her blood pressure is alright. Radiation oncologist is of the opinion that it is not due to radiation.
She is now taking a tablet called vertin, prescribed by the doctor, which seems to help.
Oncologist has asked us to come for consultation after a week, if the problem still persists.
I'm just praying that it is nothing serious.

Regards
Ram
