Just thought I would post this on here in case it could help someone else. My wife has gone through a lot of different chemo's and her oncologist was on the hunt for clinical trials for her to be a part of.

We weren't having any luck. She had been rejected from several for different reasons(chemo's she had taken, being 5% ER+). Her oncologist next step was to try and get a Parp Inhibitor under a "compassionate use" directly from a pharmaceutical company since they are not FDA approved for Breast Cancer.

To get that process started her oncologist had to try to get it approved through our insurance company first. Once it was declined then she could work with the drug company directly........Crazy thing. Our insurance company approved the treatment!

So if you aren't having any luck getting in a clinical trial it's possible that your insurance company might approve the use of a Parp Inhibitor even though they aren't FDA approved yet for Breast Cancer.

Thanks for sharing.  I'm glad it worked out for your wife and she got the drug.  Please keep us posted on how she does on the inhibitor.  Wishing you both the best and good news!
