Recently there has been a lot of publicity on ASCO’s new guidelines encouraging physicians to use palliative care service more frequently
I think this is a good video on the topic from Dr. Richard Miller at Johns Hopkins.
Among other things he explains the differences between palliative care i.e. supportive care services and palliative care i.e. hospice....Again, it is unfortunate that everything gets put under the same rook but I believe more and more patients and hopefully more and more oncologists understand the difference and are utilizing the services where appropriate.
