Hello! I no longer had my account set up, when Diane Counts sent me a message. Turns out she lived in the town I grew up in and we attended elementary school together, in addition we shared the same oncologist as well as the same surgeon. That being said, I will add that we became friends. She introduced me to another TN that is married to a high school class mate of mine. We were all the same age and loved sharing stories and time with one another. You can view pictures of Diane and I on the "get involved" under "Lucky the Pig" section of this web page. She and I are riding the fire truck! This is my fondest memory of her as she lost her battle on 01-01-2011. Since that time I have been in contact with several others from Arkansas including the Norwoods! Speaking of the Norwoods, if you haven't got an hold of their story, you should! They should be our poster family for TNBC. They have a POWERFUL testimony as well as a extraordinary family.

If anyone is from the St. Louis area and would like to get together, PM me. Several of us are meeting for dinner on March 7th.
Georgia - I've gotten to know the Norwoods too. An amazing family.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could all meet one day? I wonder if the TNBC Foundation thought about holding a conference where members could come and they would have speakers presenting the latest updates on research and clinical trials for TNBC? Several of the members went to the Young Women's BC conference in New Orleans this past weekend and had a tremendous bonding experience. We need something like that for us!

I so wish I had someone from here living close to me... I'm in Miami, FL. I also wish we had a TNBC conference as having been to the Conference for Young Women it is quite an amazing experience. Having said that, and while we get a conference of our own, I can tell you I met ladies in the conference that were not that young but liked attending because many of the workshops and conferences are relevant for BC patients, survivors and caregivers at any age and stage. So maybe you can consider attending the conference next year even if you are over 45. I will for sure try to go back next year; it will take place in Seattle on the last weekend of February.
Best,
Natalia

Hi, everyone. I realize that this thread hasn't been active in awhile, but wanted to update with my info. I'm in the West Palm Beach / Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area. I see that the last person to post above me, nmunoz, is from Miami. That's about 60 miles away, so pretty close. I love the idea of meeting other TNs; I've yet to meet anyone else with this diagnosis.
Warm Regards.

Hi,
Was wondering if any forums members who have arranged to meet other members would be willing
to share the best way to do this. Have seen one member mention the general area where one is from
and then asked if any one wanted to meet to PM that member to plan on a meeting in a public place.
I tend to be cautious. Thinking if one were to post the date and place on the forums (and no one has
said they were) .....then any one would have access to the details. One would want the TNBC forum members from that area to have the info. One would not want "just anyone checking out websites"
to have the info. The web site has had posts by people who post ads etc (with Administrators
deleting those posts).
I am not suggesting or not suggesting that members meet. Just posting that care and thought be
put into any meeting plan, if made. Also, realize some members prefer the anonymity of the forums.
With caring and safe thoughts
Grateful for today...........Judy

BlooBearE.....and others who have not yet met some one who had a TNBC diagnosis,
Hope you do get to meet some one else who presented with a TNBC diagnosis.
Is there any chance that your physician's nurse/social worker........or the social worker at the Facility
where you had your surgery........could put you in touch with some one else who had a TNBC diagnosis?
The nurse or social worker would need to get the permission of the other person but maybe there is
some one out there in your physician's practice? Just a thought.
Another thought.........some cancer centers/cancer support groups have programs where patients are matched to other patients with same specific diagnosis (such as TNBC) or situation ( parent of small children) etc. Think these programs are mainly telephone contact.
You might consider calling the TNBC Hotline at:
877-880-TNBC (8622)
Monday through Thursday 9am to 7pm EST and Friday 9am to 5pm EST.
to see if there is such a program in your area.
Granted a phone meeting is not the same as a live meeting. "Some how" I connected with a few
other TNBC patients during/after treatment. Indeed, it was helpful speaking with them.
With caring and positive thoughts,
Grateful for today...........Judy

Hi Judy,
I've gotten to know several TNBC women in my area. Some through this forum and sending them a PM. Others through classes at my Cancer Support Community. Some through Facebook TN groups. We've exchanged emails or phone numbers so when we try to arrange a get together, it's usually by this method.
