Hi all- I've completed 25 radiation treatments and had to stop because my skin was on fire.  I have very sensitive skin and it reached its boiling point so to speak.  My RO gave me a week off but wants me to finish last 3 treatments in my plan.  She said I do not need a boost b/c my skin has had a favorable reaction to treatment.  I had neoadjuvant chemo, bilateral mastectomy, PCR...radiation was recommended by 1st and 2nd opinion RO because of my young age (33 at diagnosis) and TNBC status.  My BS and medical oncologist said I'm in gray area but also favored radiation because I went with aggressive chemo and surgical options.

I'm so conflicted on completing the last 3...I want to be finished but just can't stop thinking about what ifs.
Dx TNBC 6/2014, 7 cm tumor, BRCA-, Neoadjvt chemo 12 Abraxane (taxol allergy), 4 carbo, 4 A/C, bilateral mast 1/29/15, PCR, sentinal node dissection: 0+ nodes, 5 weeks rad

Alicia,

I don't know the answer, but wanted to congratulate you on achieving a PCR!

Thank you Donna!  It's been one crazy ride.  The concern is in my internal mam node...it was enlarged on MRI at time of diagnosis but had shrunk back into normal range 3 months into chemo.  I think I'm just going to finish it off with 3 more treatments and then I'll know I did everything.  My 19-month-old and loving, supportive husband are well worth it.

Dear Alicia,
Good luck with the last 3 treatments. You are so correct in saying you will know you did everything you knew to do. Also, our babies and husbands and well worth going the last mile. I'm glad your husband is supportive of you, that is so Special.

God Bless,
Lillie

Alicia, I had a similar experience with sensitive skin and had to take a week off.......they ended up increasing the number of radiation sessions but making them slightly less in intensity - of course when they told me I had more to do I had a meltdown in the radiation room!!! I was so focused on the end!! I look back now and can laugh about it but at the time I was really upset!! Great results on your Chemo!!
Dx TNBC 6/12; age 59; Stage 3, Grade 3; 3.5 cm, 3/10 nodes + chest wall nodes; A/C x4, T x 12 completed 12/12 with PCR, 2/13/13 lump; IMRT Rads x 33 completed 5/22/13 BRCA 1 negative.
