Genie - congrats on reaching the 3 year milestone - keep going girl!!
Dear Breast Free -I think we can all relate to the anger issues. Lord knows I have been there many times. Sometimes I deal with it by reminding myself that there are so many who face even more challenges than I do...I also found the support group I was in to be a help though at times it could also reduce me to tears, but maybe that was a good thing. Last but not least, this group is so supportive if you ever need to vent. We don't judge because we know what it is like

I always thought it was the last day of treatment - which put me 1 year survivor on the day of the Christchurch earthquake - NZ's most significant natural disater in decades - where so many lost their lives at a moments notice with no chance to fight. I also cannot help but realise that on that day as the city shook, some poor families were facing DX at the same time as losing their homes, Jobs, friends and family. While it puts things into perspective for me and makes me realise how lucky I have been, I would prefer not to use that day to celebrate life.
So I am going with DX day which makes me TWO years out on the 24th June. Yippee
Had a three monthly checkup last week in which the ONC asked me to go and have a chest Xray the following day - then yesterday I got the phone call from the hospital to say he has ordered a CT - says there is a subtle change in the chest XRay that he wants checked. Bit scary but sure it is nothing. I am still a smoker which I am sure is what is casuing my cough and change in XRay. If only I would give up smoking I could probably avoid those horrible call backs. Still does not stop the anxiety and makes the heart flutter a little. Looking forward to wearing the drama queen gown - yet again.
For every day that we can laugh, smile and appreciate the small things in life we are survivors. Doesn't happen every day but the days it does makes everything we go through more worthwhile
Hugs & best wishes to all
Kazza from kiwiland.

Kazza,
You pick whatever day you like! If feeling like you are nearly to 24 months out, go for it! Girl, you should ditch those cigarettes! You are burning your candle at both ends! I hope your CT turns out ok.

I was a one year survivor in March 2011. I was told to count from the day of diagnosis, but I had the surgery very close to my diagnosis, so it has been one year either way. I like what was said about not worrying about a car accident every day either. I had a near miss with someone running a stop sign at at least 65 mph last week, so I know how that is too. I have to pass the spot every day. So, yes I can check twice just as I can keep up with my medical follow ups. It is all we can do.

Hi Breast Free,
This trip will give you a new outlook on life. I'm glad you have such a good friend.
Was your melt down a "just-because" or is something specific worrying you. Either way I can totally identify. Hope all goes well with the x-ray....and you have Fun at the POW-WOW.
God Bless,
Lillie

Pam,
Great news on 8 years! I'm so confused about counting. I feel like my tumor is remedial and I have to start all over. It was 2 years ago this month I was diagnosed and had surgery. However, the recurrence was found last October and I just finished treatment.

Donna you are right you know. I was told by my Onc when I had my second diagnosis in 07 that I would have to start my count all over again which means I am sitting in my 4th year. I just like the sound of 8 years, have been dealing with it that long that is for sure!
