Just wanted to give my TNBC family an update. I just finished having my third reconstructive surgery to try and repair tissue damage from the first one.  I had skin and muscle taken from my inner thighs and added to my breasts.  Boy has that been painful.  I have one more surgery and should be finished with reconstruction.  I also go for my first PET scan on Thursday.  I finished my chemo on April 21, 2010. I will see my oncologist on July 7th for the results.

Hi Abcmom,

I'll be praying for a clean scan for you!  What type of reconstruction did you originally have?  Was it with implants or did you have the Tram Flap procedure.  I was just curious about the problems you've had with your surgery.  I hope the recovery from this new surgery goes well.

Oh ABCMOM thanks for letting us know how you are making out!  It is so important to keep in touch and especially with good news, that is even better... So glad that this surgery is behind you.  I am sure it was and will be painful for a bit, but hopefully this will be the last surgery for a long, long time!

I will also be praying for clear scan for you on Thursday! Hugs and heal well, Helen in NS

I had the TRAM flap procedure. I also have Crohn's Disease and the medicine I take for that makes bleeding worse so the doctor had a difficult time.

Hi  Abcmom,

I wish you to have a clean scan and everything goes well!!!
Is this your first follow up after treatment?
Did you had any PET CT before treatment or is it your first one?
Do you know why your doctor has recommended a PET CT?
My mum is gonna have now her first follow up and the oncologist has ordered a PET CT, but i don't know if it is a good choice now.I think is very early to have one( only 6 months have passed after chemo and 3 months after radiation).

I wish you all the best!!

It is my second my follow up.  This is my first scan.  I asked about having one and my doctor decided to go ahead and send me for one to ease my mind because I had asked about it because it seems like a lot of women here had one either before treatmet which I never did or soon there after.  Is it normal to have one about 3 months out from the end of the chemo.  Does anyone know?  Thank you for everyone here and I am so happy we all have each other.  I always pray for everyone here.
