Topic: How many had mom's with Rh Negative Blood Posted: Mar 17 2010 at 11:31pm |
I know this may sound a bit crazy, but I found out today that 15% of women have some kind of Rh negative blood. Put that together with 15% of breast cancer is TNBC and it makes one wonder.
I have Rh negative blood and my Heather has TNBC. Coincidence? I know most of you won't know what your mom's blood type was; but there must be a few who do.
Can we take a survey?

My mother passed away at 46 in 1971 with ovca and w/o digging thru her records I am not sure of her bloodtype.
On my very old blood donor card it says,
rh - C-pos

Thanks, Pam! I am going to research what the heck the words on your blood donor card means. I let you know if I find anything out.

Pam,
You are Rh positive. I researched and they said that if you are D-neg you are Rh negative.
Did you have more than one child? If you have Rh negative blood and you give birth to a baby with Rh posiitve blood, you must have a Rhogam shot which prevents you from creating antibodies to Rh positive blood. If you don't get the shot and form antibodies, your second, third,.... babies will get hemolytic disease. The antibodies your blood produce will literally attack your next babies' blood.
If you didn't have the Rhogam shot, then you most likely don't have Rh negative blood.

I miscarried my first child and only then did I discover that I was rh negative. I received my Rhogam shot and had two children in the next 3 years. Both healthy but rh postive.

I guess I did this survey wrong. Good thing I am not a researcher. I guess the question should be with blood type are you or your mother. I will then find out how many people are not negative related. I am going to check out the survey.

Hi All,
I looked at the "Give us your facts" survey and saw alot of Rh Positive women so I think my premise is incorrect. Thanks for giving your info. Sorry to have bothered you.

Bonnie,
You didn't bother us with your survey. It was a good question. I think we all strive to understand why we got tnbc and come up with a common element that affects us all.
