Good Morning Friends,

I love poetry and I hope this poem by "Helen Steiner Rice" will lift you up today.

NOT BY CHANCE NOR HAPPENSTANCE
Into our lives come many things to break the dull routine,
The things we have not planned on that happen unforeseen,
The unexpected little joys that are scattered on our way,
Success we did not count on or a rare, fulfilling day -
A catchy, lilting melody that makes us want to dance,
A nameless exaltation of enchantement and romance -
An unsought word of kindness, a compliment or two
That sets the eyes to gleaming like crystal drops of dew -
The unplanned sudden meeting that comes with sweet surprise
And lights the heart with happiness like a rainbow in the skies...
Now some folks call if fickle fate and some folks call it chance,
While others just accept it as a pleasant happenstance -
But no matter what you call it, it didn't come without design,
For all our live are fashioned by the HAND THAT IS DIVINE -
And every happy happening and every lucky break
Are little gifts from God above that are our to freely take.

The small, unexpected things that brighten my days are what keeps me going.

Steve - What a joy for you to meet Pam. I will be praying for her today.

Love in Christ,

Lillie

Irderdita, (tell us how to shorten your name lol)

This is a poem I wrote for my chemo nurses..Maybe you would want to share this with yours

To Holly, Mandy, Andrea and Casey

“Unsung Heroes”

This has been a long tough journey

We wish no one had to endure.

And we pray each and every day

That soon they find a cure.

But until that wonderful day happens

And we no longer need this place,

We know that when we come through that door

We will be met by a smiling face.

They have a special calling, God put them in this place

They take care of all of us with smile on their face.

I call them my “unsung heroes”, because that is who they are

They sometimes go unnoticed, but they are a shining star.

They make this time of treatment as good as good can be,

They laugh and joke , but always doing their job with efficiency

So my “unsung heroes, you are special to us all.

God will surely bless you as you continue in His Call.

VERSE:
We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that
God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
    -- 1 Thessalonians 4:14

THOUGHT:
Jesus' resurrection was just the beginning! His resurrection
means that those of us who have faith in him, who trust in the
Father that raised him from the dead, can have confidence that
those who belong to him, whether they are living or dead when he
comes, will also share in his victory over death.

PRAYER:
Loving Father in heaven, thank you for giving me the victory
over sin and death in Jesus. I know that just as you raised him
from the dead, you will also raise me up at the great day of Jesus'
return. Please use that resurrection power in me to help me live
more victoriously today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Hi Carol,

You picked one of my all time favorite scriptures today. I have so many favorites, that is hard to do.

Anyway, I win, you win, we all win if we claim the resurrection power of Jesus. I tell you; I want to meet Him in the air. Hallelujah!!

Thanks,

Love in Christ,

Lillie, there is a song by Gold City called Midnight Cry. It is my favorite song. The main theme is when Jesus comes to take his children home. I'd love for you to hear it.

As for this trouble I'm having with staying connected to the internet, I believe we have the devil's hand in this. Do you think he doesn't approve of this forum???? YA THINK???

VERSE:
... those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
    -- Romans 8:14

THOUGHT:
The Holy Spirit is God's seal on us. The Spirit lives in us and
his presence in us means we are God's temple. The Spirit works to
transform us to be more like Christ. The Spirit helps us produce
the virtues of Christ -- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, gentleness, self-control, and faithfulness. The Spirit
intercedes for us when we pray, communicates the groanings of our
hearts when we don't have words, and fills us with power when we
worship. In addition, the Spirit is our assurance that we are God's
children. We are his. His future, his blessings, and his grace are
ours.

PRAYER:
Dear Father, thank you so much for living inside me through your
Holy Spirit. Thank you for the assurance of your love, your
presence, your power, and your guidance as I try to make the
decisions and face the challenges of my daily life. Dear Father, as
I yield my heart and my will to your Spirit's transforming grace
and power, please help me develop more of your character and more
completely display your grace today, and every day, as I face the
tasks before me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

VERSE:
So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be
afraid. What can man do to me?"
    -- Hebrews 13:6

THOUGHT:
How can we be confident in what happens today? What is our
assurance for tomorrow? Where do we muster excitement about
eternity? The Lord is our helper! Fear will not be our master
because our future, our destiny, our eternity rest in the hands of
the eternal Lord.

PRAYER:
Almighty God, my Father and my helper, I place my trust in you.
As the Alpha and Omega, I trust you for all of my tomorrows and
place my trust and dependence in you for today. In Jesus' name I
praise you. Amen.

Today I volunteered at the oncology clinic where I received my chemo three years ago. It is the "Southeastern Medical Oncology Clinic" SMOC in Wilson, NC.... I mostly do laundry (blankets and examination gowns) and fill syringes with heparin and saline.

Today I went in at 10 am and left at 3:30 pm. I am coming to the realization that God is opening doors for a type of ministry there. Just getting people a warm blanket or something to eat or drink opens up opportunities for sharing with the patients and caregivers who are so afraid and when they learn that I too have had cancer they want to talk. The nurses are "wonderful", "compassionate", "caring", but not a one has had cancer.

Please pray for Jo Ann diagnosed with breast cancer. She had her first treatment Thursday to try and shrink a base ball size tumor. She is afraid and worried about losing her hair. Don't know if it is TN, just know that she, her husband, and a son are scared.

Please pray for Betty who is getting treatment for colon cancer. She was taking a three week rest from her first chemo and the tumor grew larger than it's original size. She is very scared because the new drug they are trying now is causing so much nausea and she is worried that her body is not going to tolerate the drug.

Please pray for Cathy who was getting her second DDAC treatment for breast cancer. She is having emotional and fatigue problems. We all know how that is. She is taking a short term disability leave from her job and is worried that she will have no job to return to.

Also another JoAnn who has lymphoma. She was getting her fourth treatment today and was telling me how scared she is getting because she is trying to continue working, but having fatigue issues also. She is so brave, but scared about her job.

So you see I come away with a whole list of names to pray for. There are many more than I have listed here. Not all of the people are so scared. They are optimistic and need our prayers as they finish treatments and hope for the best in the future....

Let us be prayer warriors for all these people and for each other. There is so much Power in Prayer.

Love in Christ,

Lillie

Dear Lillie,
You are exaxtly what I am praying for on this site. Actual people seeking God and prayers for all those women that are so scared of the unknown.

Please, everyone that visits this site pray and post. Follow Lillie's example and post your requests or just let everyone know you have been here and care.

VERSE:
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to
fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry,
"Abba, Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that
we are God's children.
    -- Romans 8:15-16

THOUGHT:
Ab-ba. Listen to a baby and you will hear these basic early
sounds. Incredibly, Jesus showed us, and the Spirit enables us, to
speak to God with these syllables of familiarity, trust,
vulnerability, dependency, and intimacy. The Spirit is our
guarantee that we don't have to be afraid of God, but that we can
approach him as our loving and tender Father who always listens to
our hearts and seeks to bless our lives.

PRAYER:
Abba Father, you are glorious and majestic. Your deeds are
awesome. Your power, O LORD, is unfathomable. Your grace, Almighty
God, is wonderful. Thank you, Holy and Righteous Father, for
allowing me to approach you as my always near and ever present
Abba. Please make your nearness clear in my life today, and every
day that follows. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Good Morning.
Thank you Lillie for your post. What you are doing is surely a ministry. I think I will look into my cancer center to see if they have a volunteer program. I really don't think so because I didn't see anyone but the nurses when I was going. But we will see.

VERSE:
If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the
Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
    -- Romans 14:8

THOUGHT:
We are the Lord's. He bought us out of bondage to sin and death.
We have voluntarily placed our lives in his hands. No matter what
we do or where we go, his grace goes with us. He has promised to
never leave us. He has assured us that nothing can separate us from
his love. So let's live with a sense of excited anticipation,
looking to see where the Lord will lead us. Let us face difficulty,
and even death, with the assurance that we will not face tough
times alone.  We are the Lord's.

PRAYER:
Father, thank you for sending your Son to redeem me. Lord Jesus,
thank you for coming to earth, paying the price for my sin, and
sending the Holy Spirit to be your presence in me. Take my life and
use it to your glory. May my faith not fail in the face of life's
worst challenges. I pray that you be glorified in me.
In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

"...with the assurance that we will not face tough

I love this. He knows what we are all going through and provides peace and comfort to us. I am trying to spend more quiet time, listening for His peace and wisdom, so that I am not burdened with this disease. Instead, I want to wake up everyday in excited anticipation that the day will be good in my Lord's love.
Thanks, Carol, for spiritual support :) Make it a great week everyone!

Good Morning everyone...another beautiful day in West Tennessee. Is it really November?
Lynne, thank you for posting your thoughts. It it so comforting knowing that we are HIS! Our faith and courage in fighting this terrible disease helps others to see where their true support is well as us. The more we rely on God to help us through, the stronger our faith.
Let's continue to join together in prayer for these requests and others. I love each and every one of you and pray for you daily.

VERSE:
Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all
your crops.
    -- Proverbs 3:9

THOUGHT:
Honoring God comes first in everything. We don't give him the
last, the least, or the leftovers. He gave us his best, most
precious, and most perfect of gifts -- his Son Jesus. Thanks be to
God for his indescribable gift! How could we give him anything less
than our best, our first, and our most precious?

PRAYER:
Gracious God and loving Father, thank you for every good and
perfect gift you have lavished upon me. Please accept the offering
of my heart which I freely give to you. Soften it and make it
gracious and generous like you. I commit to give you and your work
in the world, my first and best. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Good morning...This scripture is one of my favorites...Everyone has burdens of one type or another. It may not be cancer for everyone but whatever it is we don't get through this life unscathed. But we do have hope and through the grace of God we will endure and overcome our burdens....Remember..WE ARE HIS!.......... hope everyone has a great day...

Lillie, let us know how your patients are doing.

                                                  November 10, 2009

VERSE:
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give
you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle
and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my
yoke is easy and my burden is light.
    -- Matthew 11:28-30

THOUGHT:
I guess we could call it the irony of discipleship. To follow
Christ means that we give up everything and follow him. To follow
Christ means that we receive untold blessings in this life and
eternal life with God in the life to come. So is it hard? Yes,
sometimes it is. But life is hard. Is the burden light as Jesus
promised? Yes, because we know our lives are not lived in vain,
that we are living life as God intended it, and when life is over,
it isn't really over! We get to go home and be with our Lord!

PRAYER:
Give me courage, O God, to face the challenges that I must
confront. Give me charity to deal appropriately with those I meet.
Give me thankfulness for all that you have done to bless me. Give
me clarity to see that living for Jesus is the best of all choices.
In the name of the Lord Jesus I pray. Amen.

Hello All,

Has anyone heard from Carol?

I missed her devotional today -

-- John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Oh! What a Promise!!!!

I am still having wireless problems. Couldn't get on  yesterday at all.
I'm not sure this will post at all..but here goes

                                                  November 12, 2009

VERSE:
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be
holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be
adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his
pleasure and will.
    -- Ephesians 1:4-5

THOUGHT:
God wants us as his holy children. That was his plan for us even
before the world began. God paid the huge price, the sacrifice of
his Son Jesus, for our adoption into his family. God's motive in
doing this? His desire and delight in loving us.

PRAYER:
Loving Father and Holy God, my words cannot adequately express
my thanks for your love and grace. I am honored to be one of your
adopted children and want to bring you joy in the way I live.
Forgive me for the times I have disappointed you by not living up
to what you desire of me. I want my life to be a holy thanksgiving
to you for your grace. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

This verse reminds me of all of you who so graciously and unselfishly give of yourselfs to help people who come  here scared, bewildered, and overwelmed. I know God is looking at you with thankgiving.

I want my life to be a holy thanksgiving to you for your grace. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Good morning everyone.  This is the day the Lord hath made. we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24

VERSE:
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in
all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with
the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
    -- 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

THOUGHT:
We are comforted because we are heartbroken. We are comforted
because we need a blessing. We are comforted because God loves us.
We are comforted to comfort others. While each of the above
statements is true, the last is the most crucial one. There is
something about comfort that cannot be fully realized until it is
shared with someone else. It is that final step in the healing
process of grief, disappointment, hurt, and loss. Until we share
the comfort we have received, until we pass it on to another, our
comfort is weak and shallow and limited. Comfort, pass it on!

PRAYER:
O LORD, God of heaven and earth, Creator of the universe, thank
you for knowing my heart, caring about my concerns, and comforting
me when I am wounded. Help me to share your grace, mercy, and
comfort with someone else today. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
