Snickers, you are the best.  Thanks for giving us a little window into your life, and into the sweet connection you have with your onc.  Of course he responds to you!  How could he not, considering how charming and open-hearted you are.   I wish you continuing great health and spirits into infinity (at least).
Love,
Denise

Snickers,

Thanks for the positive affirmation today. You are so right!

You seem to be doing really well with this chemo regimen. I am so glad this worked for you, and i hope you have many more years of NED ahead of you.

Snickers,

It sounds like you have a wonderful doctor/patient relationship with your oncologist.  I felt the same way with my first onc and always had a list of questions at each visit.  Now I always kept the list to no more than 10 questions, lol.  She left on a sabbatical and I remember the last visit, we sat and just talked for about 15 or 20 minutes.  We knew this would be the last time we'd see each other and she genuinely wanted to talk, not just about cancer, but life in general.  I've come to learn this type of relationship may not be the norm, so cherish it when you find that genuine doctor who truly cares about you as a person.

I hope Smitty had a good day at school having the kids read to him.  I bet he's just worn out tonight!

Snickers,

Wonderful to hear that your relationship with your onc is a close one, and even moreso that he has good news!!  Your positive attitude and gracious spirit are infectious!

I have an appt tomorrow with my new (hopefully) onc, Lisa Carey. As many on this site know, she is a TNBC expert, and I am lucky that I have the option of changing to her...with my new job, my Duke doctors are no longer in-network providers, so to be able to switch to another world-class institution in the same area is indeed a blessing...maybe a box of krispy kreme donuts is in order?

Hi Turtle, I went to Lisa Carey for a third opinion when I had my second occurrence back In early 2010. I thought she was the bee's knees! The whole UNC Cancer Center was very impressive.l I hope you have as good an experience there as I did.

Dear Turtle,

I'll take a chocolate covered donut... YUM!  I pray your new oncologist, Lisa Carey, will be a good fit.
We, here in North Carolina, are very lucky to have the caliber of medical facilities and Doctors that we have; Duke, Chapel Hill, Wake Med (heart), and Vidant in Greenville, a teaching hospiital......  There are others, but these four are within 45 minutes to 2 hrs. from my house.

Good luck and God Bless,
Lillie

Snickers,

What a nice feeling after reading your recent post. It was so uplifitng.

So glad your oncologist responded to your question about "if he thinks I will be alive next year at this
time and have a good QOF and without hesitation he said YES!!! "
Thinking though...... If you had updated him on your bucket list.........then he may have responded
"YES for many years as you need to get thru your bucket list!"

Really loved dmwolf's above wish to you.
Hope Denise doesn't mind as I would like to echo it....wishing you continuing great health
and spirits into infinity (at least).

With caring and positive thoughts,
Grateful for today...........Judy

Judy and All
Taurus my guide dog puppy I have raised for over a year is now in formal guide dog training. He has been my strength through all of my cancer and God bless him...he has spent his entire puppy hood in chemo and doctors offices. I miss him so much because of the strength he provided me. He left this Sunday and I picked up another puppy who I am raising for 2 months then will turn him over to another raiser in my club. I get all the "fun" of potty training and sleepless nights. Laddy is such a cute little yellow lab puppy. He is so smart! He brings me lots of joy and laughter.

Lots of loving care and prayers to everyone

Snickers,

I have a special place in my heart for yellow labs.  I've been trying to convince my husband we need another one to keep Casey company.  So far he isn't buying it.  So sad to see that Taurus has graduated.  I'm sure he was such comfort to you.

Snickers,

Enjoy your new puppy Laddy. I am pretty sure that Taurus wil be the perfect guide dog, because you are a special person and trained him so well. I know it is sad to let him go because he gave you so much strength, but maybe he was the reason you are NED now. I have a yellow lab puppy, he is 10 month now. He is a great dog and with my 2 orther dogs they provide a lot of comfort to me.

Ladies...
I am crying with joy! I had my ct scan yesterday and was waiting anxiously for the results today, thinking bad thoughts! My onc. just called me and told me I am still NED!!!
I am so amazed as I have been on this chemo for 11 months and it is my miracle drug!! I have been on "maintenance" Gemzar for 5 months and it is still holding those nasty evil cancer cells back. Fight, fight to win Gemzar!!!
A quick update before I have to leave to teach my middle school journalism class.... Taurus, my blk lab that I was puppy raising left on April 21st to begin his formal training to become a guide dog. He is in Phase 1 of 8 so he has a long way to go, but like us, one day at a time!
If you want to check out what are pups are doing please go to our clubs facebook page:
Pups 4 Partners and you can ooohhhh and aaahhhh over the cuteness!
Thank you all so very, very much for keeping me focused on positivity and HOPE. Yes, there is HOPE.
God is great!
lots of cyber hugs and love
