Dear Steve,

We sometimes forget the strain and pressure caregivers go through, we are so concerned with our patient.
Take the time....breathe a little...pamper yourself...
I'm sure her new red polish brightened her day.
We love and pray for you both.

an update from Steve

Little Time Left Now.....

Posted 1 hour ago

......according to Hospice nurse Sue, who came to evaluate Caryn a day earlier than normal at my request. She called me at work at about 1:10p and gave me an approx 48 hr time frame, and after my co-worker got back from lunch, I came straight home. Brother-in-law Steve had called Evelyn earlier in the day and got a similar assessment so that when I called his cell phone at 1:15p, he was already in my kitchen. Apparently he and the plow guy teamed up and got our two spots cleared (YAY---and thanks to you both).

As I type this Caryn is resting fitfully, and is breathing irregularly. Steve left a few minutes ago to go see Mom and he will return later, and my parents and daughter are enroute from Maryland.

Let's all prayer for an easy, peaceful release from the pain and suffering...she deserves that much.... I love you Caryn.

Steve
PS...for those of you who have our phone number or my cell...I beg of you NOT to use it

I have posted this on Caryn's carepage and on her facebook page...

Although I have only been in the same room with Caryn one time, on a BC retreat, she means a lot to me.  I first met her on the FORCE forum.  It was there she was "yelling" at us not to wait and watch, but to be proactive, she did not want us to end up like her...  It was then that I found this forum.  I began PMing with her here to find a TN savvy oncologist in the area.    I feel as if Caryn saved my life.

Caryn, you are the most generous, gracious, and fiesty lady I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and I only wish you peace as you journey transitions over.  Its time to stop fighting and allow the peace to find you...

Steve, I hope you find peace as well.  I know it was been tough on you, please be kind to yourself.

A day does not go by that I have not thought of you both, and I am sure that will not change.  You will remain in my thoughts and prayers always.

XOXO
~Sara

I am so devastated by this.  I had the privilege of meeting Caryn several times over the past couple of years.  I last saw her at her 50th birthday party in July of this past summer.

Dear Caryn,

Thankyou for all the love, support, humor and strength you have given to and shown all of us. You have left an amazing legacy, something you always wanted to but thought you didn`t. When I watched  "It`s a Wonderful Life" this year I thought of you and how you have touched so many lives. One person can make such a positive difference to others. That is what you have done by sharing your life with us. I pray for a peaceful passing when God takes you into his loving arms.

Dear Steve,
My heart breaks for you. I hope you will find comfort one day knowing how much Caryn loves you and what a wonderful husband you have been to her. Please take time for yourself with no guilt.
God Bless,
Terri

This is difficult news to hear.  I have never met Caryn Rose, but know what a beautiful, courageous, giving, loving person she is from her posts and the posts of those who know her.

I pray for her to have a peaceful passing and to know the joy of no more suffering.

I pray for Steve to feel peace and joy also, in time, knowing that Caryn would want those feelings for him.

Thanks to everyone who has shared in reporting this journey of Caryn's, and may you all be full of serenity knowing that Caryn would be grateful for all you have given of her to us here.

With love, Sue

Dear all,

we just lost a dear, dear courageous woman...

It was an honor to know Caryn...as others have written above she was an inspiration to me and countless others. She came from a family that had endured much. Her dad was a Holocaust survivor and also had the BRCA mutation that he passed to Caryn...

So, in some way we were cousins as we shared the same mutation.

After meeting her on another message board for a number of years I went to visit her the first time she was in CTCA. I think it was 3 years ago. I traveled to Philadelphia because I was drawn to her somehow.
I saw her in the corner and immediately knew it was her as she was typing on her laptop. She showed me around CTCA and then went for a radiation treatment. It was a long one but she came out and refused to let me drive, even though she looked bushed..Then we had a lovely dinner with Steve's wonderful parents (My condolences to you both as well). The next time  I saw her I had dinner with her and Steve and got slaughtered as we played Jeopardy together..The next time I saw her was several months ago when I visited her again at CTCA. I read her the Lord's Prayer at that time but she was not having any of that and remarkably bounced back.

She had such a presence. Such strength. Such wisdom. Such a wonderful sense of humor and such intelligence. She also did not pull any punches about what she felt a BRCA+ woman should do regarding surgeries. I believe she saved many lives.

Caryn, I shall miss you and in some mystical way I believe you will continue to guide my advocacy work. You were a true champion and a mensch.

May you rest in peace, dear friend...

and Steve, you defined what it means to be a good husband and I use my highest compliment, mensch, for you, too. We, here, grieve with you.

My condolences to Caryn's brother and his family, as well and I can't find the proper words for her mom. The worst pain, possible. Losing a child.

love to all here...Caryn told me this site was wonderful and she was so right...we have a beautiful family and we have lost a precious member and she will always be remembered...always..

through my tears,

Steve

p.s. Nancy, again thank you for your dedicated postings...
